Driving with Parking Brake on Caused code P0430?
Just bought a 5Speed ,V6 ,81K Cougar and drove it a couple of minutes with parking brake on. Check engine light came on,no drivability changes afterward, nothing different really, but reads p0430(Bad Cat) Emission code now. Does anyone think It did it?Dealer is under Mass Lemon Law and responsible, but swore the car is just fine. I'm gonna reset the computer and not drive like this again. Thanks

- there's no way ur parking brake with not create a emission code. take it back and get it fix.
- Dealer probably cleared the code first then sold it without fixing the problem. Could be the catalytic converter. Take it back to them. There is no way your parking brake could cause that since people burn rubber on 1st and second with parking brake on.
- Driving with the parking brake did not cause this code, its your 02 sensor on bank 2,replace both up stream and down stream sensors, with the factory or dealer oem sensors,if you buy aftermarket you will regret it,02 sensors need to be replaced every 80 to 100000 miles, also check the cat go under the car and tap on it,if you here a rattle the cat is bad
